The Executive Chairman LASUBEB, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King said this at the 3-day workshop organized by the Board for Librarians and Assistant Librarians in public primary schools across the state.
He noted that the workshop, themed, Ways of improving the use of school library: focus on manual and electronic access to library in public primary schools is aimed at digitalizing pupils library experiences to enhance classroom learning outcomes.
Alawiye- King mentioned that modern librarians must be well-versed in Information Technology and they must be ready to go an extra mile at ensuring their users are satisfied with information provided.
He urged them to continue to ensure proper record keeping for pupils and teachers to be resourceful in public primary schools. He averred that libraries are an important part of society, adding that it is a citadel of knowledge and fortress of information that support literacy and education.
While declaring the training open, he charged the participants to take advantage of the training to upscale themselves in their profession.
Deputy Director Library Services, Lagos State Library Board, Mr Taye Bogunjoko, mentioned that the incursion of technology in libraries will not only enhance information management but advance service delivery in the library which will consequently accelerate knowledge acquisition in the State's basic education system.
